| The RÍOS TRILOGY by Laura Colmenares Guerra is an installation exploring the Amazon Basin from local and international perspectives. Through this hydrology-based body of work, it explores the relationship between language and the construction and definitions of territory. It examines pressing socio-environmental challenges faced by the Amazon. Working with language and GIS data on threats from deforestation and resource exploitation, it seeks to identify the meanings we attribute to the Macro-Amazon, a territory politically shaped by nine Latin American countries. A green-lit room holds 21 3D-printed ceramic reliefs of the basin’s waters. An application archives Amazon Twitter data before it became X.
